Lake County awards local bank for job creation

TAVARES — The Lake County Board of County Commissioners at its regularly scheduled meeting Oct. 20 approved a High Value Job Creation (HVJC) Program Award for $20,000 to First Green Bank for the creation of nine qualifying positions.

“First Green Bank’s expansion is a welcome addition to Lake County and we’re pleased to award these funds to a company of their caliber,” said Dottie Keedy, Director of the Lake County Department of Economic Growth & Redevelopment.

First Green Bank is a commercial bank that focuses on promoting positive environmental and social responsibility while operating as a traditional bank. The company is expanding their business by constructing a new main office on U.S. Highway 441 in Eustis. The bank anticipates creating nine full-time jobs that qualify for the HVJC Program award for which the salaries are at least $17.05 per hour or $35,466.00 annually or higher.

“First Green Bank has purchased the site and is investing $2 million in new construction and $325,000 in new equipment,” Keedy said. “They anticipate completion of the project in November 2010.”
