About Lake County Economic Growth & Redevelopment
The mission of the Lake County Department of Economic Growth & Redevelopment is
to provide excellence in service as a liaison between companies and government
with the goal of creating a business-friendly environment and quality jobs for
the citizens of Lake County.
The Department is fulfilling its mission by coordinating efforts with
stakeholders and community leaders; enhancing and diversifying the tax base
through innovation, industry attraction and business development; promote
quality of place; and develop, retain and attract talent.
The Department of Economic Growth and Redevelopment is performing the following
action plan to meets its strategic goals:
- Coordinate efforts with stakeholders and community leaders:
- Creating a Countywide partnership to support economic development;
- Developing and expanding internal resources for economic development; and
- Strengthening the leadership base and expanding involvement and understanding of
economic development.
- Enhance and diversify tax base through innovation, industry attraction and
business development:
- Planning for adequate sites and infrastructure to support business and
industrial development;
- Continuing to support the retention and expansion of business;
- Developing an entrepreneurship program; and
- Initiating an external marketing campaign.
- Promote quality of place:
- Protecting and promoting green spaces and natural resources;
- Supporting redevelopment and revitalization in downtowns; and
- Promoting arts and entertainment.
- Develop, retain and attract talent:
- Continuing to expand and promote higher education opportunities;
- Promoting and celebrating excellence in the public schools; and
- Enhancing economic and workforce development linkages.
Economic Development Strategic Plan
Lake County has recently adopted an
Economic Development Strategic Plan entitled “Building Bridges for Economic
Development in Lake County” to strengthen its position as a
business center for Central Florida by aggressively pursuing
opportunities and building collaborative relations with regional allies.
